What to Expect After Neck Laser Liposuction
Are you worried about fat build-up under your chin? Then stop fretting – there is a solution! Aging, genetics, hormonal imbalances, and weight gain take a toll on the face, causing extra fat deposits to build up in the chin and neck areas. The result is a double chin, a really frustrating aesthetic concern for both men and women. Exercise and diet can help to some extent, but often fail to provide the desired results. The good news is that there’s a safe and effective solution – neck liposuction. This minimally invasive procedure is performed using the FDA-approved laser-assisted Smartlipo Triplex device. The procedure can eliminate those excess fat deposits under the chin and tighten the loose, sagging skin and muscles and restore youthful contours in the neck.
Laser liposuction is performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia. The surgeon will use the minimally invasive cannula of the Smartlipo device to deliver laser energy to target the fat cells by making tiny incisions in the skin. The laser energy liquefies the fat so that it can be suctioned out gently, leaving the surrounding tissues unaffected. The device comes with three separate laser wavelengths (1440, 1064, and 1320 nm) that work to liquefy the fat and tighten the skin. By precisely targeting unwanted fat, Smartlipo Triplex laser liposuction leaves the surrounding tissues unaffected. Key benefits of the treatment include short downtime, and less pain, bleeding, and swelling than conventional surgery.
Things to Expect Post-Neck Liposuction
Though the safety and efficacy of laser liposuction are well-established, patients usually have concerns regarding what to expect post neck lipo. Mild bruising and swelling are quite common after the procedure and will resolve soon. Patients will be advised to wear an elastic compression collar around the neck and jawline area for a period of up to 6 weeks following surgery for optimal results. They will be advised to sleep with the head of the bed elevated for one week after the treatment.
Patients are advised to take complete rest on the day following the procedure. Most people can get back to their normal activities after about two weeks. They need to avoid bending, lifting, or straining the neck area until recovery is complete. It is also important to protect the face from sun damage after surgery. Patients will be advised to wear a broad-brimmed hat and liberally apply SPF 50 or stronger sunscreen. Though neck liposuction provides long-lasting results, weight gain after the surgery can affect them. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle can help preserve liposuction results.
Ideal Candidates for Neck Liposuction
Not everyone is a good candidate for neck liposuction. Suitable candidates would meet the following criteria:
- Have disproportional areas of localized fat deposits below the chin
- Are in good health without any underlying medical conditions
- Have realistic expectations about the procedure to be undergone
- Have good skin elasticity and skin tone, with no sagging
- Are close to their ideal body weight
- Are at least 18 years of age
If you are considering neck laser liposuction, the first step is to make sure you are a good candidate for the treatment. To find out, schedule a consultation with a liposuction surgeon in an AAAASF-accredited plastic surgery facility. The surgeon will assess your medical history, skin quality, and other considerations, and goals to determine if you can go ahead with the treatment. If you are found to be a good candidate for neck liposuction, you will be provided with a customized treatment that will help you achieve your cosmetic goals.
